Board members are legally and ethically responsible for determining policy, approving the annual budget, fundraising, and establishing short- and long-term goals. The Board is a policy-making body and has an obligation to establish policy, employ the Director, and assist the Director in long-range planning.
To meet these obligations, Board members serve on one or more of the following committees: Finance, Public Relations, Fund Development, Long-Range Planning, Personnel, Golf, and Board Development and Recruitment.
Eric is a partner at the law firm of Handelman, Witkowicz & Levitsky, LLP, in Rochester where he concentrates his practice in civil litigation, including all areas family and matrimonial law. Eric obtained his B.A. degree at Union College and his J.D. at Albany Law School. A native of Rochester, Eric resides with his wife and five year old son in Pittsford. While not chasing after his five year old, Eric enjoys playing golf and being outdoors.
Jennifer L. Balonek, MPA, is the Manager of Operations and Client Experience at the McArdle Ramerman Center, a Rochester, NY based consulting and coaching firm. She has a wide-ranging background in information technology, business process improvement, project management, business development and market research. Jennifer received her advanced education at SUNY Brockport, holding both a master’s degree in public administration and an undergraduate degree in criminal justice. She has also received advanced training in information technologies, project management and business/municipal law. She is active in her town and regional government. Her free time is spent reading, swimming, cooking, traveling and studying history.

Elizabeth Saylor, CPA, MSA, is a staff accountant at EFP Rotenberg, LLP, a Rochester-based independent accounting firm. She has experience with providing financial statement audits for a number of not-for-profit, SEC and manufacturing clients. Liz received her BS in Accounting from SUNY Geneseo and her Masters in Accounting from the University of Rochester’s Simon Graduate School of Business. Liz currently resides in West Henrietta with her husband, Jeff, and their dog, Zoey. When not spending time with her family, Liz enjoys reading and horseback riding.

Kate Ulrich Saracene
Kate Saracene is a partner at the law firm Nixon Peabody LLP in Rochester where she focuses on employee benefits and employment law. Previously she worked in labor relations and human resources for Xerox Corporation. Kate received her B.S. degree from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations and her J.D. from Yale Law School. Kate is also a board member of Family Service Communities and chairs several programs for the PTSA where her children attend school. Kate resides in Webster with her husband and three children. When not at an ice hockey rink cheering on her children, Kate enjoys travel, running and practicing yoga.
